Hi Dancers
There has been some great enthusiasm in classes in the past weeks. If you have enjoyed your first taste, just wait till you get right into the swing of it! There's so much to enjoy. I'm excited just thinking about all the fun ahead for you guys. You can start the next part of the journey with the must-know Shim Sham routine. 

Awesome to see such growing interest in Balboa. To all of our swing beginners, if you would like to start learning Balboa, just drop in to Leederville classes any Thursday night at 6.30pm - no bookings necessary. You'll soon find out why Bal is called the dancer's dance!

The Joel and Heidi Show!
Perth's Big Weekend of Balboa, Lindy and Charleston! Sept 6-8, 2008
You heard it! The amazing Joel Plys will be teaching alongside the stunning Heidi Salerno for this weekend! These two awesome Balboa, Lindy and Charleston dancers will share their huge knowledge, energy and passion with you!
The weekend will feature 8 hours of Balboa workshops, 2 Charleston classes and an awesome Lindy class before the Sat social. To make the most of it, get into Balboa now and learn some foundations to really appreciate what these Balboa professionals have to share. Drop into a Balboa Beginner class any Thursday! It only takes a few short lessons to know the absolute basics and qualify for Level 2 classes. Class info on our website www.swingzing.com .

Sat 12-5 Balboa Classes (Beg-Beg/Int - progressive classes suitable for Level 1 and 2) at the Fremantle Club, Parry St.
Sat 6-8 Dining Out at Bennys! Join Joel, Heidi and all the gang at Benny's, Fremantle!
Sat 8-11.30 Sat Night Fiesta with Lindy Hop class and performance showcase at Kulcha, Fremantle. Followed by coffees on the strip!
Sun 12-6 Balboa Classes (Beg/Int-Beg/Adv - progressive classes suitable for Level 2 and up) at the Fremantle Club, Parry St.
Sun 6-8 Pizza Deliciosa! Sandrinos, Fremantle.
Mon 7.30-9.30 Partner Charleston, Chips and Cheezles (Level 2 and up) 2 classes at Tivoli Theatre, Applecross
 
Costs
Weekend Pass (all Sat and Sun classes plus Sat night) $195 (or $185 for earlybird payment received before August 15)
Sat Class Pass (classes from 12-5 only) $80
Sat Night Fiesta Pass (includes night class and social) $20 door $18 presale $16 Kulcha members
(No Sunday only classes as Sat is essential training for Sunday)
Mon night classes. $20 each, $35 for both, $30 for both if you purchase a Weekend Pass.
 
Notes
Absolute beginners can do the Sat classes, but to really make the most of it, learn the basics now. If you can't make Thursdays, consider a private lesson.

Monthly Blues Night! - Wed July 30

Shim Sham! 
Everybody neeeeeds to know this dance!! The Shim Sham is a famous routine danced the world over. If you have never had the chance to learn it or you simply want to brush up your skills, then come along!!

UWA - Wed Aug 6 FREE CLASS  5.30-6.30pm, UWA Boatshed, Hackett Drive, Crawley. (Course bookings through UWA Sports 6488 2286). You can still join in this course on week 2!
No experience or partner necessary.
These classes are the start of a 6 week swing course.

MLX8 Melbourne Lindy Exchange  27-30 Nov 2008       
This year the Melbourne Jazz Dance Association, inspired by the creepiest, classic horror films of the 1920’s, 30’s & 40’s, proudly presents MLX8 - Exchange of the Living Dead. MLX8 will be all about scarily great live music, frighteningly brilliant DJ’s and most importantly, wicked social dancing. So don’t miss out! MLX8 - Exchange of the Living Dead will come to life on Thursday night and leave you zombie wasted when it finishes late on Sunday. The Slayer might even enjoy this Vampire Fest!
The Hellzapoppin’ Prize is back in Melbourne at MLX8, on  Friday November 28th 2008. AHP is the dancer’s competition; fast, furious, aerials, old school, no runners up, and only one winner of one great prize; two full passes to Swing Camp Oz!

Opportunities
Black Swan Theatre Company is looking for volunteers to appear on stage during Far Away by Caryl Churchill – we are looking at ages from 16-70 and we need, to quote the director, “committed, passionate people willing to wear plain coloured underwear and singlets and to have their ankles shackled.  No dialogue needed, need to look sombre with no giggling! Would be required for 2 rehearsals of 3hrs each, 1 dress rehearsal and then alternate performances during the season.
 
Dates are Rehearsal week - sometime in the week commencing  4 August
Dress rehearsal Friday 15 August.
Performance starts Preview Sat 16 august – closing night Sunday August 31.
 
The volunteers would be on stage for a period of no more than 15 minutes.
