Feedback from
2007 Camp:
"Loved the
community spirit of camping together. Had a great time. Learned heaps.
Sensational value. Fantastic way to start the year. Brilliant idea mixing
the adventure and then dance. I loved it !!! Bring Anthony and Sarah back."
Sarah & Anthony
In terms of influences, these two consciously embrace the history of Lindy Hop with both their preferred music and dance style. They've studied dance footage from the 20's right through the golden years of swing and aim to reflect the original styles in their own dancing. Through fast dancing, Aerials and Charleston, Anthony & Sarah are well known for their ability to 'fly' at faster tempos. With a love for 20's hot jazz and 30's big band swing, individually they're also quite adept at solo Charleston and jazz dancing. Aside from their weekly classes together in Melbourne, Anthony & Sarah have a wealth of workshop experience having each taught numerous workshops and classes in Victoria and interstate, including Sydney (including Sydney Swing Festival), Brisbane, Canberra and Hobart Their teaching experience also extends to major USA events such as at Camp Jitterbug in Seattle, The Boston Tea Party and for Swing Central in San Francisco.

January Class Series and Workshop with
Kevin
St. Laurent!
Presented by
SwingZing
January Series - Thurs
10, 17, 24, 31. 2 special classes each night from 7pm followed by
social dancing. North Perth Town Hall.
January Workshop - Sat
12 and Sun 13 Tivoli Theatre, Applecross.
Kevin St. Laurent is internationally recognized for his
energy and innovation as a Lindy Hop dancer, instructor, performer
and choreographer. His creativity on the dance floor stems from a
command of musicality and partner connection, features of his
dance that make him such an engaging performer, and his priorities
in both improvisation and choreography. As an instructor, he
concentrates on the technique of these elements at all levels,
teaching his students the ability to adapt the style of their
dance to that of the music and to create a dynamic dance with
their partner. Kevin's energy and focus on fun are a constant
backdrop to all of his work.
In 1998, Kevin began specializing in Lindy Hop, the original form of swing dance that began in New York City's Harlem neighborhood in the 1920s. In 2001 he went professional and has since taught on five continents including North America, South America, Europe, Asia & Australia. He has appeared on ABC's revival of the TV show "Dance Fever" in 2003 and was a featured dancer using Motion Capture technology in the 2004 Feature Film "The Polar Express" in 2004. His expertise is sought after by both amateur and professional dancers world-wide.
Stay tuned
over the next few weeks for more details...

Damon Stone & Heidi Fite began dancing and teaching together in the
San Francisco Bay Area in 2005 when Heidi moved from St. Louis to
San Francisco. Together they run the venue
Roots in San Francisco, providing weekly Blues lessons for
experienced, intermediate, and advanced dancers, as well as a weekly
dance party. They regularly teach lessons around town at San
Francisco venues the
9:20 Special on Thursdays, and
Friday Night Blues on Fridays. In addition, they often hold
special workshop weekends at different studios through out Northern
California.
Damon & Heidi share a love for Blues dance in both vintage and
modern forms and continue to promote both local and national
interest in the dance through teaching Blues workshops around the
country and organizing national Blues dance events such as Cheap
Thrills All Blues Weekend in St. Louis, MO, the annual
Down Home Blues Dance Festival and
bluesSHOUT! Workshop/competition weekend
Their classes are inspiring and challenging, but their focus on the
underlying principles and a clear explanation of the fundamentals
allows them to break down the most difficult concepts and moves so
they are easy to understand and incorporate. More important, Damon &
Heidi are able to communicate and instill in their students a love
of dance and a dedication to the learning process. With an eye on
musicality, partner connection, and improvisation, Damon & Heidi
will get you on the floor and "dancing" rather than just doing
moves. When and where? |
