Fuchsia Carlino (Swing Zing Instructor)
When Fuchsia found herself in front of some of Sophie’s favourite dance clips for the first time, she knew she had found a new passion for dance. Fuchsia was excited to discover a dance that would allow her to play with improvisation and contact skills while dancing with a partner to great music.
Fuchsia has been dancing for what she feels is forever, like most little girls she wanted to be a fairy and so started ballet at the age of 2. Thanks to a few inspiring teachers she danced her way through her youth and found herself immersed in the world of dance at WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and reemerged with a BA in dance in 2001. She then followed her passion for contact improvisation to Melbourne for a couple of years before returning to Perth and supporting the development of a contact jam here in Perth. Fuchsia has been involved in various independent and community dance projects mostly through improvised dance. She has a variety of teaching experience in community and tertiary settings with ballet, contemporary, contact improvisation and swing dance.
Fuchsia loves to dance and to share her passion for dance through teaching.
