Paul Verevis (Swing Zing Instructor)

Paul Verevis Senior Teacher Swing Zing Dance School

Paul was introduced to swing dancing in November 2001 and since then has never looked back. Three weeks later he began his Lindy Hop lessons with Roger Schmidlin (Switzerland) and Janet Tolifson (Arizona) in Perth, Western Australia. Within the first 6 months of dancing, Paul was lucky enough to have taken classes from the one and only Frankie Manning, and had also joined the Perth Swing Dance Society's performance team, The Hullabaloo Hoppers. Throughout the following years, he attended many Lindy Hop exchanges including MLX, Hullabaloo, MSF, and other weekend workshops learning from such teachers as Peter Loggins & Lisa Ferguson, Rusty Frank, Janice & Manu, Bill Borgida, the Harlem Hot Shots and many more.

Highlights of Paul's dancing career have been his two trips to the USA, twice attending Swing Out New Hampshire and Century Masters in Seattle. At Century Masters Paul had the privilege of meeting and being taught by the old timers such as Frankie Manning, Dawn Hampton, Chester Whitmore, Norma Miller and Sugar Sullivan. These events cemented Paul's love for swing dancing.

Paul had his first Balboa experience in 2002, but it was not until 2004 that he discovered his love of Balboa. Since then he has taken lessons from many international Balboa teachers such as Nick Williams & Sylvia Sykes, Joel & Alison Plys, Steve Garrett & Heidi Salerno, Anne-Helene & Bernard Casava and others. He also taken lessons from many of the Australia Balboa teachers, and recently attended Balboa on the River in Brisbane. It was here that Paul made the final of the Jack and Jill. Paul's passion for Balboa is matched only by his love of magic.
